Counting your vehicles

Count power units — trucks, tractors and buses. Trailers are not counted separately. You may use the number on your latest MCS-150 record, or the number of vehicles you actually operated during the twelve months ending 30 June before the registration year.

A count of zero does not exempt you from UCR. Brokers, freight forwarders and leasing companies with no vehicles of their own still register, at the lowest fee bracket.

If your state does not participate

These states and the District of Columbia do not participate in UCR. Carriers based there register through a participating state of their choosing — usually the nearest one in their FMCSA service area. Our form asks you to pick one.
